Patrick Bei
As someone that struggled with his weight and body image in his teens, Patrick has been a fitness enthusiast for years.
He first joined CrossFit in 2017 since he lost the motivation to workout at a regular gym. He enjoyed the competitive environment but also the community aspect of CrossFit where he has made friends for life. CrossFit has also helped Patrick regain confidence in his body and reach his personal fitness goals. In the beginning of 2022 Patrick earned his L-1 trainer’s certificate and CrossFit became more than just a passion.
As a leader in the fashion industry by day, Patrick thrives in helping others achieve their goals and motivates them to be the best version of themselves.
Rob Izzo, Ph.D.
Rob is a former fat kid who found fitness through CrossFit. After years of swings from morbid obesity to being not-quite-unhealthy—mostly through running, yo-yo dieting, and poor decisions—based on the advice of a friend who had recently started CrossFit, Rob signed up right away…to do it better. Rob is nothing, if not competitive. He started CrossFit and within a month, he was a full convert, espousing the merits of the methodology to whomever would listen—and often to many who had little interest.
As a former classroom teacher, sharing experiences from this journey is second nature and in 2017 Rob earned his CrossFit L-1 trainer’s certification, and followed up with specialty CrossFit training in weightlifting and gymnastics. He is also a certified USA Weightlifting Advanced Coach, teaching people to put heavy things over their head and is a certified sports nutrition coach with Precision Nutrition.
By day Rob is a wine executive, leading a group of people who specialize in the controlled spoilage of grapes. He holds a Ph.D. in leadership that allows him to wear a fancy robe on occasion and causes him to teach at students in local universities. He resides happily in Sonoma Valley with his husband, Andrew, who is also a member with EA and tolerates Rob’s enthusiasm for…pretty much everything.
Kurtis Rissmiller
Naturally drawn to physical fitness, Kurtis discovered the CrossFit methodology in 2004 while living in Brooklyn, NY. He and a couple close friends began seeing immediate results and quickly became early adopters. As is the case with most people when they first discover CrossFit he became an annoyance to all his non-CrossFitting friends - all he would talk about is CrossFit and try to persuade them to join in the fun/pain. Fast forward to 2015 and not much has changed. Kurtis met EA while they were both at their Level 1 certification in 2011.
Known for his creative motivational coaching techniques, he has enjoyed (nearly) every class he has led these last 4+ years with the great community that is EA’s CrossFit.
Peter “Pete” Davis, Ph.D.
Dr. Davis has had a career as a clinical psychologist and health scientist. Pete became a competitive athlete and martial artist in his teens and went forward coaching several sports and training others in martial arts and CQC. He discovered CrossFit several years ago and soon qualified for L-1 trainer’s certification. In 2015 he placed high in the masters’ qualifier just missing the Games.
He is the author of Rebuilding Superman, The Astonishing Physics of the Mind and Success in a Nutshell (A financial book for young adults).
